He used a joke to deny being Hitler. Not the same.

[–] xor@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

he denied it, is the important part

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He said didn't want to be referred to as Hitler.

He denied nothing.

[–] xor@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

the denial was implied, grow up

He recognized it was Nazi salute by referencing Hitler.

If anything this was an implied confirmation, not a denial. Nothing was denied.

Sorry, but no. Anyone in their right mind would have immediately come out and said I apologize for that action etc etc. The fact the he didn't is all the implication required for him to be labeled at nazi. There is no denying no excusing it.

i agree… however he did deny it implicitly by saying that “everyone is hitler is so tired”….

it’s still obviously a nazi salute and if he immediately said “i’m not a nazi and disavow all nazis, and that was an accident, i didn’t mean to make my arm so straight… i see how it looks like that but it wasn’t on purpose, im totally not a nazi”, it wouldn’t matter at all… it was still a plain nazi salute.
actually hitting his chest first is the way neo-nazis do it now.
i actually heard, years ago, from a friend who had some too close to nazis past, that putting your hand over your heart first means “my heart goes out to the white race” more or less….
also the violent way he snapped his arm out….
it’s UNDENIABLY a contemporary, neo-nazi salute.
i haven’t been able to find another source for why neo-nazis put their hand on their chest… mostly because google fucked up the date range search… and i didn’t really believe my friend at the time… but it was as direct as possible without actually saying it.
musk did essentially deny it, weakly, but that’s irrelevant… except documenting their gaslighting tactics.
joking about nazi-ism has been a main tactic of online nazis for years now

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

That is still not a denial

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

“everyone is hitler is so tired"

This means Musk is bored of being called a Nazi. Nothing more. Certainly there is no denial from him of doing a Nazi salute.

But I am glad you agree it was a Nazi salute. Thanks for clarifying that.

no it means he’s applying the gaslighting tactic of “you’re so paranoid that you’re imagining nazis in everything”
i mean, if you really can’t see that i can’t help you.

[–] xor@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

that’s a form of denial.
is the new troll tactic to just be as literal as possible and pretend like you can’t understand anything between the lines?
pretty weak…

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

So what if it was a Nazi Salute “everyone is hitler is so tired"

You see how a confirmation fits just as easily as your imagined denial.

[–] xor@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Given you admit it was a Nazi salute, and you are inventing a denial, you are a literal fascist apologist.
