Batman is such a weird superhero. Because he literally lives out a fantasy of a billionaire dressing up in a costume to beat the shit out of poor people

Wayne and Stark are kinda both “what if billionaires decided to be good people” which seems to appeal to the American dream even if not the American reality

Though admittedly, they’re both likely less impactful as vigilantes spending millions on personal weapons tech than they would be if they like… solved world hunger or something.

…And even in a fictional universe with super powers we still can’t imagine billionaires even trying to be good without suffering through severe trauma first.
