Hi. I am a beginning sewist. I’ve sewed a hand full of small objects. Now I’m sewing my second garment using a commercial pattern. The pattern is rated easy. I am slowly getting through it. But I wish the directions were clearer. Does anyone have recommendations for patterns that are clear and specific for a beginner? Thanks.

I really like the patterns offered by Wardrobe By Me. As I've settled into them, my wife has started enjoying their camp shirts and perfect tunic.

WBM has generally clear instructions and most patterns also have an instructional video, which can really help learn how to parse pattern instructions.

For men, the tropical shirt is a great starter. I grew into making Jensen shirts, then men's tunics.

For women the camp shirt really is a great first pattern with woven fabric.

I'm making the "Big Shirt" for my niece now and I think it also has good instructions.
