People don't pick cotton anymore in the first place. Machines do it now and have been for over 50 years.

I mean, her point was that black people aren't going to go back to being slaves, so using cotton does make sense, but I would have been more direct instead of using an euphemism.

Sure, and it also implies that immigrants are the replacement slaves.

Which brings us back to my point, which is that immigrants shouldn't be second class workers that we use as the new slaves.
