tldr: Look at the shiny. It's got AI and a spec tailored to it!

Damnit just review the thing properly instead of gushing over it.

Keyboard struck me first. For a machine that's supposed to support effective working, a horrible chiclet keyboard just ain't it. Terrible squished in arrow keys and no numpad either.

A whopping 3 USB ports (1 A, 2 C). Betting they double duty as charging too, so that's one less if you're plugged in. Best have a hub handy if you want to do anything with more than a couple of devices. No mention of hdmi/dp ports, nor of whether it will do USB display either. I expect it does though.

It's a good thing the headphone jack is there, because you're sure as hell never going to be able to appreciate Dolby on whatever speakers they have crammed in there.

AI features look more annoying than useful. I know what I want to do - don't need it to preemptively guess and get in the way by doing so. Some features are subscription based, and they give you a year. $749 just to pay 20 a month later down the line.

Author has a bad habit of putting too many things in parentheses, that I admittedly share.

That all said, the market is there for them. There is a plentiful and increasing number of users more than happy to lap up the slop. Will probably be seen a lot in higher education settings and on the desks of small time, self important directors. IT departments will hate all of them.

What I like the most is the way mtk is breaking into the laptop CPU world.

SD X: 2100/10500

SD X Elite: 2700/14000

M4: 3800/14600

MTK kompanio ultra; 2600/8000

Honestly that's probably the biggest takeaway. MTK still lives in my head purely in embedded systems & handhelds, so seeing it here does raise an eyebrow.

What's great is that they didn't either have to ask "permission" to MS to be considered good for laptops. Simply clever.
