Hello Lemms

I have an XSR 900 and some old soft luggage from an XG 750. Does anyone have suggestions for mods that would help mount a tail and saddle bags? I am aware that the XSR and sportbikes are not made with touring in mind, but I am stubborn. Really the saddle bags are optional, but would like to be able to take them.

If you have ever gone on some road trips on a sport bike what tricks or mods did you use to have enough tie down points for your bags?

I used to have a 2016 XSR900, and while I wouldn't recommend it for long distance riding I don't see why it couldn't be modded to make it more comfortable for that, since the Tracer 900/FJ-09 is built on the same platform. The XSR has the same mounting points for racks and stuff, just that you may have to cut away some plastic to get to them. I used to have the SW-Motech legend gear bags on mine, which wouldn't really have huge capacity for a long trip but had a solid mounting system that could probably accommodate bigger luggage. I would also probably want some kind of windshield for long distance riding too. I just had a Dart flyscreen on mine.

Tracer 900/FJ-09 is built on the same platform.

I didn't know that. Thanks that might help me broaden my search.

My planned trips will be no more than 400mi in a day. My previous ride was an HD 750 and the tail was long and had some gaps to tie stuff right onto the bike. Being able to at least get a tailbag on the XSR means I can get enough clothing for a week to where I am planning. You are for sure right about the windshields tho.
