A nice place to discuss rumors, happenings, innovations, and challenges in the technology sphere. We also welcome discussions on the intersections of technology and society. If it’s technological news or discussion of technology, it probably belongs here.
Remember the overriding ethos on Beehaw: Be(e) Nice. Each user you encounter here is a person, and should be treated with kindness (even if they’re wrong, or use a Linux distro you don’t like). Personal attacks will not be tolerated.

A lot of subs have already gone dark (over 4000 as of now), you can see a live progress tracker on reddark.untone.uk if you want to watch 😊
Sweet Jesus. I never imagined so many subreddits would go dark over this.
Me neither, I thought it would be a much smaller percentage than this (now 5497 of 7047).
But I guess it's probably because the subreddit mods specifically rely on the mod tools provided by 3rd party apps, so the people most motivated to protest all this are also the ones who are fully able to simply turn everything off.
Man, this is turning out to be one of the worst pre-IPO disasters in history, if this move was indeed for Reddit to increase its valuation for an upcoming IPO. Really shot themselves in the foot with a shotgun.
