Looks interesting.

Looking for mods that might be of interest as well.

To go with the Elder Kings, there are some mods (all in workshop):

  • Art Mods - for Dwemer, Dunmer, Reachmen, Nords etc. etc. there are for most cultures now, but you can have only one active at the same time since it replace all art. Definitely worth it since art assets are largely vanilla in mod now.

  • Patch for character finder (that's the name) - displays artifact in character finder, great to search for some unique things to steal (you can have multiple daedric artifact and do not have to be daedric champion or worshipper for that)

  • No beastfolk limiters - if you want to marry some baldy skin human when playing as Khajiit (or vice versa)

  • EK2 hold cities and academies - so you can personally hold those kind of holdings.

  • Cancer can duck itself - so your long lived elves won't die off in their youth (aging mechanic and stress is pretty broken right now so they will drop dead at half their supposed age from random reason or suicide anyway, but this mod will improve situation somewhat)

  • More legacies - just more choice

  • Cadet branch hard limiter - i hate cadet branch spam

  • Court artifacts in inventory - streamlines very clunky interface part

  • Lifestyle XP from skills - highly configurable mod that will give you additional lifestyles XP, notably fun in EK2 since traits reducing it are very common.

All of those except art mods, beastfolk limiter and hold cities and academies also work in vanilla.

More in next post.

Full conversions:

  • EK2 - duh

  • The Fallen Eagle - last days of antiquity. Pretty fun mod and actively being developed

  • LotR: Realms in Exile - Middle Earth Mod. Have tons of potential but development is slow and moved in very weird direction adding many noncanon realms in far south and not having elves, dwarves and hobbits at all. Orcs are pretty fun though.

  • Godherja - probably biggest mod now, about fantasy apocalypse-in-progress world.

  • The Way of Kings CK3 - based on Sanderson "Stormlight Archives", didn't played much, seems fairly oneshotter though

  • Shogunate - Japanese age of war mod. Pretty good, but being hampered by not enough customisation options.

  • Princes of Darkness - oldest total conversion still in work, based on Vampire: The Masquerade TTRPG. Pretty good, with many interesting bookmarks and characters.

  • Apotheosis - about hellenic age, pretty neat

There's more, but i checked those ones.

Dishonorable mention: The Bronze Age - super high potential mod that was abandoned by devs and then they pretended to work on it for almost 2 years. Not cool.

That last part seems like a lot of mod projects, tbh.

Yeah, though CK3 have slight better track on this than most games. This was the only major total conversion abandoned so far. Problem is, it was half-offcial, they started to work on it months before release, allowed by PDX, what you see now is basically the state they already had on release of the game.

Plus, CK3 has A Mod of Ice and Fire.

What could be better?

[–] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml -1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

It's not released yet and don't know when it will be. It is made by the same team as their mod for CK2, which means the possibility of epicness is high.

Noice.

I'm re-reading AGOT for the first time now.

Feels kinda different 30 years later when the 6th book is still not written.

[–] Makan@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I know, right?

Series started in 1996 and is reaching its 30th anniversary (it's currently 2023).

That's... bad, actually. Fans have died not knowing "what happens next," let alone the ending.

[–] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml -1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Autor is in his 70't too afaik, and 6th book is "nearly ready" for like 8+ years at least. book 5 released in 2011.

He will die and Sanderson will finish it lol.

I don't really like BrandoSando that much, tbh.

[–] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml -1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I do. Depend on books though, but he's currently top fantasy writer. I especially love his forst book "Elantris". Stormlight is very good too. His most famous cycle "Mistborn" is pretty much overrated, but i love how he learned through it and took feedback, for example in the first book he did ridiculously overworded action descriptions dragging endlessly, but later he did resigned from that.

Another thing i like is his take on magic. For every new setting he thinks of something fun and new and mostly coherent to be integral part of his world, instead of making magic recycled puken out pseudo-mysterious pizza like most other authors.

Other his books i read: Warbreaker - good, Rithmatist - scholomance genre but actually very good, Skyward - worst i ever read and only one i never read more than once.

Not including After the End on here...tsk tsk

They aren't even on workshop.

More fun mods for vanilla, some of those might work in EK2:

  • Medieval Coffin Dance - plays said music every time some feudal lord or lady close to you die. Makes game much more fun

  • VIET - absolute ton of new events, for both vanilla and conversions (must have)

  • More game rules - as in name, more configuration on gamestart

  • Fulscreen barbershop (there is compatch for EK2) - better character customisation

  • Nameplates - show you who is who in events

  • Ethnicities and Portraits Expanded - tons of historical hats, robes etc. Essential

  • Community Flavor pack - as above, also essential, though you will need compatch so both works at the same time and expect some errors anyways

  • Custom title form of address - you can change your title if you don't want to be some cringe ass boring "king" anymore

  • Auction off artifact - getting rid of clutter for some money, especially good in vanilla because there is much more artifacts there. Works with EK

  • Revert Kyiv to Kiev - because Paradox historical research clerely showed them that modern ukrainian language apparently started in VIII century CE.

  • No dynastic title names - getting rid of confusing feature

  • Councillor's experience traits - so people sitting in your council will get better in it in time

  • Holding Manager Lite - so the holding management feel little less barebones

  • Cities of Wonder 3 - so living in Constantinople won't feel the same as in some freezing hell in Norway.

Total conversions in next post
