Let's just stop this nonsense.

I'm not even attached to winter or summertime, but just stick to one instead of changing it every six months.

Started a thread about this in !casualconversation@lemmy.world

I'm attached to summer time personally

I don't want it going dark at 15:30 what can I say, 16:30 isn't much of an improvement but at least it's something

Is that really worth it if in winter sun wont be up till 11 during the weeks that are scientifically known to already cause a depressive mood? (Blue monday)

EDIT; blue monday is apparently labeled pseudo science, still i much prefer a dark summer night with garden lights over waking up what is essentially the middle of the natural night during the colder months.

This morning the sun rose at 6:48. This afternoon it will set at 16:38.

Few people who work 9-5 are going to benefit from it being light at around 6:30 any day of the week (7:30 is still enough for a morning run), yet on the weekends the extra hour to make it light until 19:00 will be so much more valuable for meeting with friends or going out with family etc.

attached to summer time

what I don’t understand is why stop at 60 minutes: if we really prefer bright evenings then why not 90 minutes or even a few hours?

Here's the thing. In the US if your state wants to stop changing their clocks, the can do so right now. Arizona and Hawaii are already not changing their clocks. The problem is the people that want permanent DST. That takes an act of congress.

My suggestion. Get the legislators to stop with the clock changing bullshit, then get the employers to shift the working hours so people can have their extra daylight in the summer.
