Free Market Capitalism is based on the infinite human ability to create and innovate.
Communism refuses to acknowledge individuals and their skills, incentivastion and has no ability to allocate limited resources successfully.
If only there were a middle ground...
No it isn't. It's based on the infinite human ability to exploit others for personal gain, and its functioning for those who benefit from it is predicated on the existence of a working class that produces more in value than they are allowed to benefit from.
Socialism is not communism. It is based on the idea that workers should have ownership over their work, and it has been put into practice in the form of worker-owned cooperatives, like the Mondragon Corporation in Spain, as well as many that aren't the size of entire small cities. My argument is that an economy organized predominantly by that model would work much better for everybody.
This guy likes the Wolff.
Socialism is when the government does stuff.
To be fair, Mondragon isn't socialism any more than it is capitalism. The organization is owned, as in capital, by the workers who are also owners. They're both capital owners and labor simultaneously.
But... that's socialism. What you are describing is literally socialism. It's workers owning the means of production. What exactly do you think socialism is?
Socialism is the system of legal property rights in a society that grants ownership of the fruits of labor to the ones doing the labor. Capitalists, as in owners who collect profits just from owning, are not possible in such a legal system. Socialism is not just workers owning, it's workers being entitled by the simple fact that they're workers.
In the case of Mondragon the workers are not granted the fruits of their labor because they're entitled by the fact that they're workers, they're granted the fruits because they are the capitalist owners. It's a capitalist arrangement that only looks socialist.
I like how people like you immediately default to communism as if there's absolutely no other option available...
