I really believe Android and iOS or any OS that runs on mostly battery powered devices should have a "Allow App to run in Background" permission!

Android does have that. This is about apps that we're malicious and intentionally stayed active in the background... That's what Mishaal talks about. You can look for what you want on any Android phone. In the Battery Usage section of the App Info page, you'll see 3 options. Unrestricted is the one to use for what you seek.

Idk if it's the same in all skins of Android, but this is for a Stock Android custom ROM.

I wish my Realme x3 actually honoured the 'don't kill' settings.

It kills tasker. It used to kill Messenger.

I probably won't buy one again as I just can't trust it. All else about it is great.
