Hey, I just got a nuc 6i7kyk used, and currently only have a 300gb ssd in it. I'm looking to build a nas mainly for media. I have a few questions:

  1. Is usb connected storage bad for media usage, no vm:s or software here.
  2. how would i connect a bunch of drives? is one usb 3 enough for hdd's?
  3. Should i consider another machine for the drives and use smb? such as a off the shelf nas.

Thanks for help and suggestions!

USB will work for media. Speed isn't much of an issue when you are watching a movie.

USB 3.0 is faster than a spinning drive reads data.
