The most well-known clown getup is literally a caricature of a drunk, poor Irishman, I think you can cuss in front of them.

Yeah ... but kind of obvious in hindsight, isn't it? The Irish were heavily discriminated back when the clowns came up with that costume. It's pretty much blackface, but aimed at the Irish.
