Micromatic 2/7: Just a Micromatic Monday 🦣

  • Brush: Boti Motherlode knot in laminated wooden handle, 30mm
  • Razor: GEM Micromatic Open Comb (second generation, hold flat against face)
  • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (1)
  • Lather: House of Mammoth Hygge
  • Aftershave: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! Spiced
  • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company 3 Scots

This second gen MMOC is from that fun batch that has "HOLD FLAT AGAINST FACE" engraved into the top cap. Because that's probably not clear enough for the average user, the razor came additionally with a tag bearing the same "HOLD FLAT AGAINST FACE" message attached to the handle by a string. We can say that I'm thoroughly instructed going into this SOTD.

This is the second of the five types of Micromatics I'm going through this week:

Right to left, in chronological order: (OC[MM)OC] gen 1, (OC[MM)OC] gen 2, Clog-Pruf gen 1, Clog-Pruf Gen 2 "Peerless", Flying Wing/Bullet Tip

The Motherlode lather monster created a huge amount of lather again. Maybe by the end of this week I'll be able to load for just three passes with this thing.

Hygge and Spiced/3 Scots work surprisingly well together even though they don't share a lot characteristics. I think both Hygge and Spiced being such warm scents and having this sweet citrus going on (bergamot/sweet orange in Hygge, mandarin in Spiced) makes them a good team, and I still think of 3 Scots as "fresh Spiced", so that one's a no-brainer.

Great shave! The (OC[MM)OC] can do no wrong.
