I don't know whether I would be comfortable murdering pokemon, but if the gameplay turns out to be great, I would give it a try. I think I'll wait on this one until it develops a bit and there are enough reviews to balance out early adopter (dev friends & family) bias.

As of right now there are more than 10k reviews and it seems to be fairly welcomed. I am thinking of getting it as well if I could get some of my friends interested. There are some bugs but for an early access game that just came out it seems fine but the developers old game doesn't give me much confidence.

It's very complete and polished for an early access game imo. I only put 2 or so hours into it though

The Pals can't actually die, they just get the "I'm stunned" eyes from the Pokemon show and roll around on the floor.

Edit: Nevermind, they can totally die later on.
