The Twilight Zone ultimately predicted this The Brain Center at Whipple's in 1964.

Automation is inevitable, and while it may not immediately replace current white collars, it'll assure new positions are not made, and old ones are phased out as professionals and upper managers retire.

But this is the natural end to a society in which we only feed people who work for someone richer than they are, or an established company or governme t department. We create more shit jobs (literal jobs that don't do anything real, but are a placeholder for someone who needs to be employed).

We're going to have to change our entire system by which we sustain people, probably dragging stubborn elites kicking and screaming into the new age.
