Sync is fucking fantastic, just how I remember. I don't mind at all paying for a great app by a talented dev.

The pro version is supposed to be out later, and will just be a one-time payment unlike ultra's subscription

The lifetime purchase to remove ads is up. It's a bit pricey but I can understand why, Lemmy has a smaller userbase. Totally worth it.

I wonder if it was because of the backlash from being subscription only? I was surprised by how many angry posts there were. I gotta admit even I was disappointed. I don't mind paying for a pro version. But a subscriptions a bit of an ask, as I don't need the features offered by it, but I do like sync and Lawrence is a good guy.

No ads for 20 bucks isn't bad as an alternative if you don't need the features

[–] altima_neo@lemmy.zip 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, he didnt have that option when I first installed it. Went ahead and grabbed that.

[–] bazo@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Are you talking about sync ultra or is there another ad free purchase? Ultra life time costs 120 usd, which is too much for me

[–] rishado@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Yeah if you just click 'remove ads' on the sidebar it's $20 for lifetime I believe

[–] altima_neo@lemmy.zip 2 points 11 months ago

There's the remove ads option, which is not a subscription to anything. It's $20.

[–] Skyhighatrist@lemmy.ca 2 points 11 months ago

They are talking about the remove ads option. It's a one time purchase just to remove ads with none of the additional features of the subscription. As I understand it.

[–] karlthemailman@sh.itjust.works 18 points 11 months ago (4 children)

Same here. The latest update has the "remove ads" option added for a one time 12.99 fee.

It feels so random.

About 20 EUR for me.

There are just as good apps that do not track for shit.

Plus not accounting for a previous purchase is a final nail in the coffin for me. Most likely impossible to implement, but still stings.

[–] karlthemailman@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Are you sure that's not the lifetime for ultra? There's a new one time "remove ads" option.

[–] Eamo5@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (2 children)

Yes I'm sure. Ultra is only available annually or monthly. Annually it's $28 here

Edit: I stand corrected. Just got the new update with ultra lifetime as an option. That's $170 though.

[–] karlthemailman@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago

Wow. I hope that's some sort of mistake.

[–] L3s@lemmy.world 0 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (2 children)

It's $99 USD, think you all are seeing a bug.

Edit: I misunderstood which option was being discussed.

[–] Raxiel@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

$99 is the lifetime 'ultra' subscription, there's a separate 'no ads' IAP added to a more recent beta

[–] can@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago

They're talking about AUD

[–] tja@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago

Wrong country?

[–] AEsheron@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (2 children)

Not seeing it, I just see an Ultra subscription, where is the one time no ad option?

[–] karlthemailman@sh.itjust.works 3 points 11 months ago

Make sure you update the app. It just showed up for me about an hour ago.

[–] SugarSnack@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

I just found it, scroll to the top and click the Lemmy logo top left, under account switcher and above sync ultra

[–] altima_neo@lemmy.zip 1 points 11 months ago
[–] cant_breath@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Same, I'm paying for the ultra subscription. But I understand if someone is using another app, Connect is pretty good. I'm just an old dog

[–] fox@beehaw.org 2 points 11 months ago

It's available as an IAP for $19.99 now

[–] mexicancartel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 10 months ago

Its not about the money but about the software freedom and source transparency
