Hi I am looking for a **free ** game with simple mechanics, competitive and online is a plus. plus suggest games that don't require steam, I don't want to install that software

I used to play vanis.io but people spoiled it by playing in teams while I like playing solo, while other games of the genre (slither, agar, paper.io) couldn't stick with them

I played mindustry, and wasted tens of hours, until I found out That I was playing campaigns without having unlocked enough research to beat the master, the game didn't have the right mechanisms to orient me to the winnable campaigns, and I ended hating it for that.

I am a simple guy looking for a simple game to distress (not candy crush simple)

thanks. I have taken a fast look into it, but wasn't sure if it is a game I can play whenever I have time or I should keep at it to level up. still is a very solid suggestion.

It's a little bit of both. There are thousands of different ways to train your skills, but once you reach mid-late game (a few hundred hours most likely) then you'll have a lot of long grinds ahead of you. Not to take away from the game, I love osrs. You can also always switch between what you want to do whenever you want.
