1. Follow the site-wide rules
- Instance-wide TOS: https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/
- Lemmy code of conduct: https://join-lemmy.org/docs/code_of_conduct.html
2. Be civil
- Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
- Do not harrass or attack members of the community for any reason.
- Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
- Bigotry will not be tolerated.
- These rules are somewhat loosened when the subject is a public figure. Still, do not attack their person or incite harrassment.
3. Post Linux-related content
- Including Unix and BSD.
- Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of
sudo
in Windows. - No porn. Even if you watch it on a Linux machine.
4. No recent reposts
- Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.

Damn that's a really cool way to name your machines!
Why do I suddenly have the urge to rename mines...
I have a funny one. 'Linux-on-Toaster' because it get heat upto 100°C LOL
Linux powered kettle
Themed sets of names are so cool I wish I had thought of one. One of my friends names all of theirs after noble gasses meanwhile I have things like albrecht, yoda, echo, cascade, europa, and the one I let another friend name: hairless cat
My main is literally just the model name, my main server is "imaginary-tree" as a reference to Honkai Impact, and the two others are test and test2... So not that creative.
Although I do add "MkX" to show how many times I reinstalled the OS. Turns out, I accidentally broke them a lot-
Thanks!
All my devices, Linux or otherwise, have a host name after fictional a vessel be it water, air, or space. Weatherlight, Swordfish_II, Hammerhead, Pequod, Flying_Dutchman, Serenity, Arwing, Cloudbase, Prydwen, Nebuchadnezzar... I'm sure there are more I'm not thinking of. Nebuchadnezzar is my LTO machine that I can never spell correctly... but that's fine, I only log in to do an annual backup to cold and fresh install of any workstation or laptop or cellphone to tape and store in my safe. Have been doing that for 3 years now. I have to look up how to spell it literally every time.
Cool! I name my storage drives after weather (e.g. STORM19, LIGHTNING12, REDSPRITE24).
