Why does anyone still use that site, especially for stuff like this?
You gotta post where the people are, and the people are still predominantly on Twitter unfortunately.

Why are people still predominately on twitter?
Because that's where the posts are.
Everyone here on the fediverse has at least a foot out of the door from twitter and should take the approach of not linking back into it. This is why the side bar has that as a rule though it is out of date (the login requirement is a countermeasure taken by twitter to break nitter, proof that this approach is working but now we need to move to actually rehosting videos and not just using front ends).
And yet the people are actually on Instagram and tiktok
