Explanation: The Emperor Aurelian put great effort into encouraging the worship of Sol Invictus ('The Unconquerable Sun') as a unifying, 'non-cult' god that the entire Roman Empire could rally behind in addition to each region's traditional gods.

I loved this picture so much when I found it that I decided I had to do something with it
