[–] newIdentity@sh.itjust.works 93 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And they will be again in a few years thanks to the EU

[–] potopato@lemm.ee 31 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Finally, I don't understand why it took so long.

Because institutions are slow in that regard

Let’s wait for the final bill.

I do not thing we will return to user swappable batteries. It will just be easier to have a shop replace your battery. But that is just my guess. We do not know the final bill yet.

I'll take "this guy has no fucking idea" for $1000 thanks Brent.

Dude the battery is just as removable in the phone in this picture as any new phone today

[–] thorbot@lemmy.world -1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This comment is idiotic. That’s how every iPhone has been and still is. You can remove the display and can lift up the battery and replace it.

[–] masterspace@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You're idiotic. You used to be able to do this on all phones without disassembling the screen .

[–] pinkdrunkenelephants@lemm.ee -1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Wait. You people can't remove the batteries from your phone? 🤨 My phone is only 2 years old and I can take off the back and remove mine whenever I want. The fuck kind of shit companies are you buying from?

There are only few devices with an easy to replace battery and I get some cynical vibes from your comment so you are probably aware. There are even less devices in the price class between 200 - 300€, a lot of people can't afford the Fairphone. Hopefully the EU will deal with that shit soon.

Ones that offer water resistance apparently

[–] frippa@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

I don't even know if I can, my phone is a literal tank weighing half a kilo. It has some weird bezels you can screw out but I never tried to see if they reveal the massive battery
