@silence7 I don’t think Gates is climate minded but instead pushes for nuclear because he’s aware of the main risk to growth of the tech industry: Shortage of clean energy to feed the growing and grotesque energy demand of data centers and AI.
To a tech-bro listening to lobbyists , „new“ nuclear seems like a good solution and even better if you intend to cash in some tax payer money while you’re at it. Risks and waste are secondary to them.
There are other low-probability-of-success-but-amazing-if-it-works things he's put money into, notably some of the enhanced rock weathering studies.
