Especially since it feels like more things are getting canceled only two or three seasons in.

I think this will also help the show, as it was starting to go off the rails as they started to move further away from the source material.

Turned into a sitcom with how they kept coming up with excuses to not kill off key characters each season. Only thing keeping it from seeming generic was the gore to make it seem more "mature and edgy".

OK, maybe I don't need to watch it.

[–] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago (2 children)

don't listen to them, it's excellent.

[–] stardust@lemmy.ca 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Even if you disagree it doesn't make only your opinion the correct one. It's opinions after all.

[–] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

where did i say my opinion was the only correct one?

[–] stardust@lemmy.ca -1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

What does don't listen to them mean.

[–] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

it means "don't miss out on a critically acclaimed, highly rated show just because this one person didn't like it."

[–] stardust@lemmy.ca 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I didn't know I was the only one that didn't like it.

jfc, obviously i did not mean you were the only person on planet earth who didn’t like the show.

You have now straw manned three consecutive comments, and are clearly not interested in meaningful discussion. good night.

It's pretty obvious to me that graymess was turned off by the gore part of the previous commenter's statement and not the sitcom part so I'm not sure it matters to them how "excellent" it may or may not be...

But, what do I know?

[–] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

not obvious at all considering that was only part of the criticism and they did not specifically mention that's why they won't watch.

[–] scottywh@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

I said it was pretty obvious to me... Clearly you didn't have the same understanding.

[–] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

And you are wrong for thinking it was so obvious for the reasons i stated above. you jumped to your conclusion.

My dude the gore in the show is toned down from the comic. It's not trying to be edgy, it's trying to make garth goddamn ennis palatable to more people.

[–] scottywh@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Which has nothing to do with my guess that it's what turned the previous commenter off.

Thanks though.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Yeah I meant to reply to them. Whoops.

[–] scottywh@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Lol... No worries... That makes a lot more sense.

[–] scottywh@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Out of curiosity, was it the reference to the show "becoming a sitcom" or the one saying that they'd used "gore to make it seem mature and edgy" that turned you off? (or both)

[–] graymess@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Neither are what I'm looking for in TV these days.

[–] scottywh@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Fair ... Me either really...
