Some translations refer to them as she-bears. So we can assume they are butch bears.

In Latin, the term for she-bear is ursa, which becomes ursula with the diminutive

That said, Vulgate uses ursi (which is the male plural). Typical queer women erasure, swallowing my head.

She-bears isn't explicitly defined in the bible, so it's safe to enjoy the thought of lesbians with giant beards beating up young chuds who made fun of your hair.
