Lemmy.world updated to version 0.19.3, you may need a new authentication token for everything to work normal, so please log in again in Boost if you are experiencing problems. Thanks!

Hi Lemmy! I've just uploaded a new version, and this is the changelog:

  • Mark as read on scroll (Settings-General-Posts). Posts will be marked as read when you scroll past them. Disable Show read posts in your Account Preferences and you won't see those posts again. Note: In Lemmy, voting, saving or reading comments of a post marks the post as read automatically
  • Support for animated webp images
  • Play gifs embedded in comments
  • Show context option when visiting a single comment thread
  • Fix long comment chains being unreadable
  • Bug fixes and improvements

Play Store Link

Thanks for using and contributing to Lemmy via Boost. You're awesome!

How to create a new community using Boost? This is the only client I use.

Works fine through the web interface and some other apps.

When viewing a single child comment thread (ie viewing a response to your comment that is already a few comments deep in a thread), you are given two options at the top of the comment section, one to "view full context" of the thread you're in (expected behavior: give context up to the parent comment and show only comments in that thread) and one to "view full comment section".

As of now, at least for me, both options simply give me one additional parent comment above what I can already see (in my previous example, it would show the comment I originally replied to). To get to the full comment section, I have to press the option and reload the comment section over and over until I get to the parent comment, at which point "view full comment section" actually does what it says.

I enjoy being in The Simpsons community, but there is this seemingly unending trend of posting a random frame with the title "Guess the episode". it's not a meme, it's not interesting, and even if it were, it stopped being interesting like 6 months ago.

anyway, is there any way for me to hide all posts that have "guess the episode" in the title?

Sometimes I come across links to communities or posts on instances that are not in the list of links the app recognizes as lemmy. Instead they open a browser tab. Given lemmys growing and decentralized nature it's unreasonable to expect devs to keep up with that. Please enable users to add to that ever growing list, at least for their own account. I understand that such a feature is may be far in the backlog or may never come at all, in the meantime I would be happy if you added the feddit.org domain to the list as feddit.de seems to be migrating there.

Workaround: Apparently it works with the ! community @ instance links like !ich_iel@feddit.org but not normal links feddit.org/c/ich_iel

i understand Boost for Reddit had all sorts of useful moderators tools. is that the same thing with Boost for Lemmy?

As stated in the title mark as read on scroll is not working and has never worked for me. Even on boost for reddit it never really worked. Anyone have any advice?

One of my favorite subreddits has no representation over here, so I figured I'd get one started. is there a way to do it through Boost, or do I need to go to somebody's website?

Instead of posting, then having to tediously copy/paste to different instances with similar communities, it would be nice (although potentially crazy spammy) to allow x-posting from one post. This may be less of a Boost idea and more of a Lemmy discussion, but if it can be enabled in Boost I thought that would be a nice addition.

My understanding is the current version of lem.ee, hiding red posts on my feed doesn't work properly, but allegedly the last version does. how do I tell boost to use the old version instead?

Recently looked at posts (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

Where can I find the recently looked at posts? I am unable to find it...

When searching in settings I find a history option which I should be ablw to add to the lateral menu, however in the actual setting it does not show up...

Anybody have an idea where I can find it?

I'm able to consistently get a crash when I look at the comments on https://sh.itjust.works/post/20798332

I don't see anything that pops out as unique about it though. Using Boost for Lemmy from the play store on a Samsung S22

Twice in the last week videos I have viewed have been saved in a boost photos folder. I didn't request to save or download them at any point. Is this based on the site, internal vs. external browser choice, caching or something else?

Obviously is prefer videos not be downloaded if I don't try to save/download them.

I have "Show read posts" disabled in the settings, but it just stopped working all of a sudden. Since yesterday I'm seeing read posts again.

I tried toggling the setting, clearing cache and switching instances, but no luck so far.

Anybody else who has this problem? Any idea how to fix it?

Edit: Looks like it's a problem with the new Lemmy version!

Hey @rmayayo@lemmy.world , I suspect you're already planning to work on the new stuff added in Lemmy 0.19.04 soon.

Should we expect support for the new features in the near future or will it rather take a while? Just asking so we know what to expect :)

Hey everyone,

Been using Boost for a long while now and I'm wondering if the filters/blocks I've made over the past few months persist when I install the app on a new device. I really don't want to see some communities/instances on my feed and does anyone know if this syncs with my user account? Is there a way to backup these filters I've enabled? Appreciate any response.

I have my feed set to hide posts after I've scrolled past them but it seems once they are gone they're gone. Is there a way to see things you've hidden if I want to revisit a post?

The profile picture appears with two lateral blank stripes and the banner picture doesn't display on the lateral menu. I know it doesn't affect the usability of the app but it is very annoying.

In the profile tab the two pictures display just fine.

I notice when I open the app if I don't go to "all" communities then I just see the same posts for about 3-4 days (mostly). I go to the communities I subscribe to and see there are plenty of posts there that are much more recent with upvotes and activity that would have appeared at the top of my home feed in BoostForReddit.

I'm still getting the hang of Lemmy so I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong or just the nature of the beast right now because it's a different algorithm than what's on Reddit.

My issue, for example, I follow a lot of tech/software development related communities and if I go to "subscribed" all I see for the first probably 10 posts is linux@lemmy.ml despite following many many other communities in my local instance and even other instances. I definitely like seeing linux@lemmy.ml in my feed but would like to see more from other communities too but I am not sure if that's something I can really control.

Also, sort of an adjacent question, what exactly is "local" supposed to be in Boost? From my understanding it should be only posts from communities in your local instance, correct? For me, local shows posts from many instances from my local ie programming.dev (the only one I have an account with) as well as lemmy.world, lemmy.ml etc etc.

I would love some feedback here as I work to make Lemmy my new Reddit. After Reddit officially killed BoostForReddit and other 3rd party apps again the other day I decided I was tired of finding workarounds to keep it alive and wanted to officially ditch reddit (with the exception of using Google to search reddit due to the huge archive of information there).

Thanks for any help!

I opened the app without thinking right now, and to my surprise it's working.

I mod an empty subreddit, which made it work before. It didn't load yesterday, and tonight it does without any changes on my side.

I was almost happy to get rid of reddit, but it's seems it is not for today.
