In short: The top prosecutor at the International Criminal Court is seeking arrest warrants for Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Defence Minister Yolav Gallant and three senior Hamas leaders for alleged war crimes.

Both Israel and Hamas officials have condemned the move.

What's next? The evidence will be considered by a panel of three judges before a decision is made on granting the requests.
