Every time my mom forwards me some stupid thing from a political source I take her off their mailing list.

How do you get the unsubscribe link for someone else?

[–] isVeryLoud@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 year ago

It's usually a generic link that asks for your email address.

Gives new meaning to 'Parental Controls'.

Probably the duration where children have to raise their parents is longer than vice versa

I blocked fox news at the work tv because someone changed it to that. I switched it to espn and came back to see fox business and blocked that too. I got moved and didn't really care until someone told me they watch news max, so i made it my mission to go there and block that too.

I can't even unlock it cause i entered random pin; you can block without pin, but need pin to unlock

Hackers, if you can hear me, hack the smart TVs to block Fox and Sinclair

My mum is solidly liberal and I'm so happy for it but my dad used to have Fox radio on on Sirius all the time even though I don't think he was actually believing all of it.

It was so awkward when I had to listen to the hosts talk about people being trans in the cruelest terms on our way back to his house when I was in the closet back in 2016.

I never got to come out to him but I think he'd be ok but to this day that's the saddest regret I had

Sorry the post just reminded me of him

Condolences for what I assume is the loss of your father

You can hide their car keys on election day too.

this is actually wild then. democracy is a right. everyone deserves one vote, whether u like their opinion or not. maybe use your words to convince them instead next time

this is genius. my dad is always watching russian government sponsored news and shit, if only I knew how to block those urls

[–] rgb3x3@beehaw.org 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's exceedingly easy. Would just need to change the router password if that's feasible.

Or, grab a raspberry pi and install Pihole, then change the router to point to that DNS server. You can block websites that way and put the Raspberry Pi where your dad can't find it. He'll have no idea why he can't get to those sites.

you could also point it to 127.0.0.1 in his hosts file

I used to periodically block Facebook groups on my dad's account. He's still a fucking moron, he's just reciting old fake news now instead of fresh.

The irony is that this person looks like a royalist
