For sure I'd try using a handlebar mount close to your thumb with Velcro tape. If you don't have enough room there then it might be a good idea to 3D print a little platform to hold it on.

I may do this, see if I can find a 3D model that will fit my needs. Thanks for the suggestion
Late to the party, but have you looked into the Mini Educator Finger trainers? It's a mini educator training collar, but also comes with a finger button so you can keep the larger remote in your pocket and just wear the finger button like a ring. Sounds like exactly what you're looking for :)
Thank you for the shout out.
I ended up going with a garmin sport pro. It didn't have any kind of finger button remote, but it did have a plethora of mounting options/accessories. I got the belt clip accessory for it, and it's been working pretty well so far. I'm genuinely surprised that there weren't more and better options in general for this type of need. Most of the options that I was able to find were more 'consumer' grade quality and for the moderate to professional grade products, there really weren't many that had alternative mounting/carrying options. The expected behavior seems to be to either carry it in your pocket, or in your hand. If they had carring options, usually it was a lanyard or wrist strap and that's it. Most were also very expensive in general. There was no middle ground really.
I was definitely eyeballing the mini educator w/ the finger trainer button. They seem like they are probably pretty good quality products. I actually didn't go with that one because I didn't care for the shape of the remote. I know that's kind of nitpicky, but for $270 I feel like it's important to be as discerning as possible. Lol
If anyone's curious, the Garmin is excellent quality. There are some pretty obvious design flaws that I noticed pretty much immediately, but even so, it was still the best option I could find for what I needed.
I'm considering doing a product review here if people would be interested.
I definitely get the preference on the remote, though I personally prefer it over the larger more rectangular ones. The mini educator fits in my stupid tiny girl pockets lol. But you are absolutely correct, for the expense you should get exactly what you want and that preference is different for everyone! Glad you found something that works for you!
Thank you, and sorry about those stupid tiny girl pockets! Lol
