Those still say its a massive problem, still caused by illegals.

I think that my favorite part of the Bible is where Jesus puts razor wire in the river to keep people from entering his country.

this will be massively downvoted.

not allowed to recognize things like this happening.

You guys love to think you’re the victims in everything, don’t you?

We should be welcoming all migrants and helping them become a part of our society.

not allowed to recognize things like this happening.

That's not why posts like this get downvoted. It's instead because these posts are complaints about things that republicans are most responsible for. It's silly.

That, and people generally don't agree with conservative politics.

why don't you explain to me how republicans are responsible for thousands of hispanics pouring over our border?

[–] PizzaMan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

Republicans have supported the systematic destabilization of Latin America. They've supported the drug war, coups, etc. Democrats share a lot of the blame for this, but nowhere near as much as the republicans.

And the second half is that any time there is an attempt at immigration reform, republicans kill it, therefore killing any resolution to the problem. You can't moderate something you don't control. On this part, republicans share nearly 100% of the fault.

Cartels, drug trafficers, and criminals will always attempt to cross the border no matter what because of the lucrative opportunities, and the disregard for the law. And the people trying to escape Latin America for their own safety will always attempt to cross because their countries have been destabilized. "Just secure the border" will not solve the root problem, because the issue is way more complicated than that. That's all republicans ever want to do, throw money at border security while ignoring the actual cause.

lol so the two options are:

  • let them all in illegally
  • let them all in legally
[–] PizzaMan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

That's not even close to what I said.

If we really want to solve the problem, we need to eliminate root problem, the root motivation for why so many people are trying to get in. The war on drugs needs to end, the destabilization of Latin American countries needs to end. And for people who want to legally immigrate, there should be reform so that they can quickly, easily, and cheaply immigrate so long as they don't have a criminal record. Our nation was built on the strength of immigration, and we've lost that strength.

Criminals and drug traffickers should continue to be stopped at the border. Everybody else should be able have freedom.

Republicans have supported the systematic stabilization of Latin America.

I suspcet a typo.

[–] PizzaMan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

That was indeed a typo. My comment was updated.

[–] Blamemeta@lemm.ee -3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Got that right. 9 downvotes and no comments. Not even pizzacake came to tell us we're wrong.

[–] PizzaMan@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Not my name. And I don't bother posting on things that are silly.

Or would you prefer me to say "this is silly" on every other post you make?

[–] Blamemeta@lemm.ee -2 points 1 year ago

You kinda already do, which is why your absense was notable.

Also, sorry about the name, dont know why I thinking pizzacake.
