It's almost a month until the 19th!

Strangely, I got my letter saying my "postal vote forms will arrive soon" two days after I received the postal vote forms. I got confused for a moment there!

Yes, but one would assume I meant the 19th of the current month of the current year.

Also "They said the 19th June 2024" doesn't work so great as a title.

Do you seriously not realize that those commenters were joking?

[-] hellfire103@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

Honestly no

Maybe they live in a different time zone?

Europe/London, BST, UTC+01:00

Do you use a different calendar system, by any chance?

I use the French Republican calendar from 1793 because I'm so anti American, I use nothing except for metric systems. You?

I like the Gormanian and Holocene calendars; but I use the Gregorian for compatibility with the rest of humanity.

Also, as I live in Britain, I use an unholy mixture of metric, imperial, and archaic measurements.

Length of an object? Centimetres. Height of a human? Feet and inches. Mass of flour? Grams. Mass of a human? Stones, pounds, and ounces. Distance by car? Miles. Distance on foot? Kilometres. Volume of a soft drink? Litres or millilitres. Volume of beer or milk? Pints. Volume of non-dairy milk? Also litres and millilitres.

So I guess you used the Gregorian calendar in your last comments, I see. Call me old school but I prefer the Julian calendar.

But I see your point now. The 19th is over and will never come back. A new 19th will come and claim their place but it won't be the same ever again. Your package will never arrive but you will keep up hoping until the end. Hope for the sake of hoping. I honestly admire that attitude. It's almost absurdist.
