Share your shave of the day!

If you're following along with the Lather Games at the other website, today's theme is:

Fougère Friday

"Product scent must demonstrably be a fougère (one of the most prevalent fragrance families in men's fashion). It should be marketed as a fougère or classified as one on a reputable site.
Note: The mere presence of lavender, coumarin, and oakmoss in a product does not make it a fougère (nor does their absence necessarily rule the category out)! Ask an expert ahead of time if in doubt.
Caveat: WK Fern Concerto is not eligible for this theme because of reasons. Just ignore that one."

Fougère Friday, Science with Fuck Part 2

  • Brush: Zenith r/Wetshaving exclusive prototype MOAR BADGER (31 mm × 57 mm silvertip 🦡) #SUBBROOSH
  • Razor: Böker Abalone
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co – Varen
  • Post Shave: Stirling Soap Co – Varen
  • Extra Post Shave: Barrister and Mann – Beaudelaire
  • Fragrance: Stirling Soap Co – Varen

Subtracting scents, part two, I try to compare,
Dirty Beaudelaire and a dank green Fougère,
Isolate Mousse de Saxe,
Chalzone showed the facts,
Green fades, Mousse de Saxe darkness stays in the air.

(If you're a French speaker, forgive me for rhyming Saxe with facts, I have no excuse other than poetic incompetence.)

I wonder though who in this house

would dare to make a rhyme with Mousse

de Saxe and facts. A rhyme? A crime!

See how my words touch the sublime!

  • Brush: Wolf Whiskers "Coffee & Cream" with DG B1
  • Razor: GEM Damaskeene
  • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (2)
  • Lather: Chiseled Face - Topanga Fougere - Soap
  • Post Shave: Barbasol - Brisk - Aftershave

If you've ever smelled Martin de Candre "Fougere", this is very similar. I prefer Topanga Fougere, as it's slightly less bright and comes in a better soap base.

The Damaskeene is pretty much the perfect GEM razor for me. It's mild compared to most other GEM options, but the results are pretty damn good! Not as close of a shave as, say, a Micromatic Open Comb, but more more fun.

Would we be having this much fun
And had a 10 year run
Without a team of nerds
Reading all of these words
Especially that guy Onion

Friday, June 21, 2024: Friday Evening Yay!

I wanted to use Le Grand Chypre, but somehow, I stopped on Narcisse, and I went with it! Really nice, but the progression towards Bon Monsieur is not really the best, even though both scents individually are great.

The kamisori is very nice, and I prefer shaving with the kamisori style, but it is not the safest when carrying around or stocking (if you are a bit clumsy like me). The JNAT edge is comfortable, but I wish it was a bit sharper.

Have a good night!

It is kind of hard to describe, but loading MdC Fougère from its container has a sophistication to it. Neither a soap mug nor a plastic tub has this effect.

Like drinking Coke out of a glass bottle?

[–] gcgallant@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 4 months ago

Yes. Apparently you can still but Coke in glass bottles. It’s made for Mexico. Old formula, real sugar, glass bottles. I want some!

That doesn't sound very sophisticated to me... Like drinking champagne out of a glass bottle, maybe?

[–] gcgallant@sub.wetshaving.social 4 points 4 months ago

Like drinking Champagne out of a Waterford champagne glass instead of a paper cup. Sort of along those lines :)

[–] walden@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Have you ever tried it? It's quite sophisticated. At least compared to a plastic bottle.

I have tried it. But during my days ineuniversity, I had a friends who claimed that

coke in can >> coke in glass bottle > any other way of serving coke

Not sure that this is true, but that was a very strongly held opinion 🤷
