It was evident from the start, since only a small amount of people are hellbent on using 3rd party apps freely. Don't be disappointed because atleast some percentage of people left atleast.

The Lemmy learning curve is too steep. Even if all those users switched over a single malicious actor can take down an entire Lemmy instance.

Honestly I kind of prefer it to have a learning curve. I hate to sound like a hipster but Reddit went to shit as soon as it became ultra-mainstream when covid hit
