Russia has summoned the US ambassador over a “barbaric” missile attack that hit a beach in Crimea, killing at least four, including children, and injuring 151.
I have yet to see even a story from the U.S. about what military target was supposed to be on a crowded beach.
It was a terrorist attack, plain and simple.
I think the beach wasn't the intended target... Weren't the missiles shot down and the debris fell on the beach?
It's really unclear. They shot down 4/5, the 5th which had cluster munitions (themselves unacceptable to use on anything but large columns of armor and troops and even then the risk of unexploded ordinance from them makes their use if not a war crime at least borderline because they will be killing civilians after a conflict) veered off course according to Russia and blew up over a crowded beach.
The problem here is why it veered off course. Of course Ukraine defenders would probably claim it was damaged and veered off because of that, on the other hand we know for a fact that if they can't find anything else to hit the Ukrainians have admitted to steering munitions into civilians and maybe this was a case of them veering off the last one so it wouldn't get shot down and deciding to hit civilians instead. We just don't know. What we do know is if the US was intimately involved then they're responsible. Further that the US/NATO supplied the weapons. Further that they've never stopped supplying weapons despite knowing for years they're used in terrorist attacks on civilians.

They official Russian statement says that 5 missiles were launched, 4 were shot down, and the fifth detonated over the beach and released its cluster bombs.
The article mentions that additional missiles were shot down, but it sounds like at least one hit where it was aimed.
But directly blaming the US for a deadly attack on Crimea – which Russia annexed in 2014 and now considers to be Russian territory although most of the world considers it to be part of Ukraine – is a step further.

The US keeps pushing, one blatantly terroristic act (with clear trails back to the US) after another. At some point, even the Russians' saintly patience is bound to wear thin...
I expect there well be an asymmetric response.
This is literally what Putin said like a couple of weeks before the attack, "the response can be asymmetric":
Is it going to be asymmetric because it will be disproportionately smaller than the attack and will barely make anyone care?
No it's going to be asymmetric because it will hurt US assets in other region without giving burger empire an excuse to escalate in Ukraine. Can't wait till Yemen sinks a carrier using a hypersonic weapon.
