For the amount of money and the number of times they’ve been bailed out, Air Canada should just be nationalized

[-] GameGod@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 days ago

Federal law prohibits contributions, donations, expenditures(including independent expenditures) and disbursements solicited, directed, received or made directly or indirectly by or from foreign nationals in connection with any federal, state or local election.

Regardless of whatever this screenshot says, Air Canada isn't donating anything to US political parties because it's illegal for it to do so.

You can use the PAC loophole. They don't donate directly but they buy stuff for them. Parties can't ask for stuff but they can put "It'd be nice if someone would..." on a website.

, Air Canada isn’t donating anything to US political parties because it’s illegal for it to do so.

And no corporation has EVER done anything illegal! It is absolutely inconceivable.

Could it be that they donate via some kind of loophole? Air Canada certainly operates in the US and has American employees, can't they collect contributions through PACs?

"The website says so, so it must be true". There's no source for their data, ergo it's bullshit.

Did Canada ever get that electoral reform they were promised?

I'll answer for yall... fuck no!

Awwww shucks guess you HAVE TO vote for the liberal party or yous gets the conservatives again!

Oopsie poopsie! Isn't "representing" people hard?

[-] IrateAnteater@sh.itjust.works 14 points 4 days ago

Canada's political scene is more complex than that, owing to the fact that there's one or two more (depending on where you live) semi-viable parties to vote for. Not all ridings have the Conservatives and Liberals in the first/second place polling positions.

The Bloc Québécois is looking like it has a good chance of forming the opposition in the next election.

If Lib voters don’t want Cons then they can vote NDP

[-] TSG_Asmodeus@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

I don't vote Con or Lib, I vote NDP, they represent us just fine.

[-] Smk@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

That looks like bullshit.
