Gave me such anxiety. Loved all the guest actors they got to play family
Same with the anxiety. Just watching Jamie Lee Curtis' close-ups of her face during a meltdown, I was covering my eyes like a little kid watching a horror flic.
Really love that series tho. Gonna be a long-assed 18+ months before season 3 airs. :/

I felt it was a little over acted like a theater production, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but the rest of the show feels so down to earth it was a little jarring for me.
I think it’s spot on for how someone with borderline personality disorder behaves.
That episode was so well done that I hated it because it felt exactly like they wanted you to feel. It reminded me of every Thanksgiving or Christmas Eve that was exactly that terrible.
For real, I'm seriously digging this show
This show is awesome. I care so much about the characters. The acting is tops. I hope they win all the awards.

I think it’s strange that it’s categorized as a comedy, though. It has some really funny moments, but on the whole I would call it a very intense drama.
Put myself through college serving at a fine dining restaurant. This show did it's research on kitchen/restaurant culture. Seriously takes me back.

I take it back actually that Christmas episode was intense I had to take a break. Lol. Still fire though.
Honestly maybe the most intense episode of television I've ever seen. It deserves every award.
I love this show. Especially this last season and especially Richie’s episode.
Everyone kept telling me to watch Succession and kept saying how good it was and I just hated it. The acting was good and the production was good but I hated all the characters, they were terrible people, and none of them grew or learned from their mistakes. It was just infuriating to watch.
The Bear is the opposite. Horribly flawed people that all contribute to something greater than themselves and, in doing so, become better people as a result. All except Carmy. And that’s what makes the show compelling and balanced. He brings out the best in people and just can’t help but sabotage his own relationships and his own life.
It’s really one of my favorite things I’ve watched in a long time that’s not sci-fi or super artistic.

Both of them compete for my favorite show this year.
If you've already watched Succession, I feel confident you'll be a fan of The Bear. If you've already watched The Bear, you really owe it to yourself to give Succession a shot. I know that makes it sound like The Bear is the better show, and maybe it is, but while being similar in many ways, they each have their own "charm". For example "The Bear" may be happier, but that doesn't make it a "happy" show.
If Ritchie doesn't get an award for season 2 I'll be pissed...
Never thought a scene driven by a Taylor Swift song would get me so good.
Love the show--however Season 2 was a bit uneven for me. Loved two episodes, hated two others. Season 1 was much more consistent for this viewer. I'll certainly tune-in for a 3rd season tho.
That’s how I feel, the writing just feels…off, in most of season 2. Haven’t finished it yet, still gotta watch that Christmas episode everyone loves so much! But def overall feels not as tight as the first season
I think the second season has a bit of a different rhythm to it than the first. It made it a little tricky getting into the start of the season, but I feel like once I got used to it, it didn’t bother me so much. Especially after rewatching it a few times.
Could have done without the flashback episode, however I think the pacing in the 2nd season wasn't as hectic
(The Christmas episode is one of the two that I hated--but for personal reasons. It was really well-done. I just can't be around those kinds of family dynamics--IRL or on TV!)
Haven't seen the last episode of s2 but I feel it was pretty low energy compared with the first season.
I only watched the first two episodes, but watching this show was like experiencing a panic attack. Does it ever get less anxiety-triggering?
There are moments of calm, but the show is very much about the chaos of the family and the kitchen.
To add on to that, I think the episodes and moments, especially in the second season, devoted to growing each character really help balance out the sheer chaos of the show. Watching them evolve and mature made me cry more than once this season. I can’t wait to do it again in season three.
"Fishes" followed by "Forks" was the best example of this. Chaos followed by a calm you feel you've EARNED.
Is the show only on hulu?
When the kitchen starts to work in the last episode of Season 2, it's such a magical moment. When Sydney manages the orders with a calm voice, followed by Richie, it's just wow. And some chaos happens, people yell, the camera moves to the dining hall and everything suddenly changes to something calm and relaxing. Some very long shots too with the camera, which you only notice when you rewatch the episodes.
