'We're having trouble verifying you own Minecraft on this device. Make sure you have downloaded and installed Minecraft from the Microsoft store. Or simply reconnect to the internet and try again.' I am connected to the internet. As far as I am aware there is no Microsoft store for Android, and anyway I bought the game on the Google Play Store, so why shouldn't I be able to play it?

Would have shared a image, but kept getting an error. It says 'Image too large' even though it is 0.06MB

You've answered your own question: "I disabled google play on my main device"

Your purchase is linked directly to google play. With google play disabled, the app can't connect to google play services to verify the purchase.

Pretty much every paid app on the play store will give you the same results. Same with paid features of otherwise free apps.

Not stardew valley. That's the first and only other paid app I installed on my phone.

Stardew Valley may have not implemented any DRM to check for ownership.

Can I remove the DRM and play on servers?

Edit: why was I downvoted? If this was a stupid question, can you please explain how?

I didn't downvote you and I don't know why someone else did, but the answer to your question is probably no, since DRM is specifically designed to prevent its removal.

It's possible for apps to check with Google Play services that you've actually bought them and didn't just install an apk. It can't make that check if you've disabled Google Play though. Most games on Steam for example work the same way.
