On a side note, OPEN AI is such an ironic name

They were supposed to be when they started, but I think they closed up pretty fast once there was money to be made.

I hate it so much. Most people don't know what open software is so it's confusing for them and those of us that do know what it means just feel betrayed by such use of the word. Shitty that they went from being open to not being open and shittier still they kept this name.

ClosedAI just doesn't sound as friendly

The world's billionaires have to hurry up and throw money at ai until it can generate fully accurate impossible to prove ai fake images so that when pictures of them at Epstien island come to surface they'll be able to plausibly deny that it's real. That's why they're so desperate to invest in everything having to do with ai.

They gotta be desperate for the money considering how much of it they're hemorrhaging every waking minute.

[–] CosmoNova@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Desperate and depraved of ideas.

Failing company? Invest into a propaganda program. People will definitely see the value in these shit brands going forward.

My guess is that they have been shown a preview of gpt-5 and that's why they're prepared to invest. Because everything seems to have stagnated at the moment but it's possible when just not seeing the current level of tech.
