Enough Musk Spam

For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

The European Union commissioner Thierry Breton sent Musk an open letter reminding him of EU laws against amplifying harmful content “that promotes hatred, disorder, incitement to violence, or certain instances of disinformation” and warning that the EU “will be extremely vigilant” about protecting “EU citizens from serious harm”.

Musk’s response was a meme that said: “TAKE A BIG STEP BACK AND LITERALLY, F*CK YOUR OWN FACE!”

Holy shit, I missed that one. Dude lost it a long time ago and is only spiraling faster.

It was a reference to tropic thunder...which would have been funny (but not much, he's supposed to represent people like Harvey Weinstein) if it did not represent some miserable snotty billionaire shitting on a union of 27 countries.

I would have banned twitter on principle just like we recall embassadors from openly hostile countries. But well-meaning technocrats are too soft on oligarchs, they only see the damage when it is already too late.

Technocrats love oligarchs, they're the people for whom they administer the system.

Elon Musk calls himself a “free speech absolutist” but has accepted over 80%of censorship requests from authoritarian governments. Two days before the Turkish elections, he blocked accounts critical of the president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

And his friendly relations with authoritarians often seem to coincide with beneficial treatment of his businesses; shortly after Musk suggested handing Taiwan over to the Chinese government, Tesla got a tax break from the Chinese government.

If you fuckers would just delete the app we’d have no problem! Facebook and Twitter were always enormous fucking problems from day 1 and anyone who didn’t know better should by now. That this evil shitstain should be so transparent and still be supported - lauded, even! - is beyond idiotic.

I know i’m preaching to the choir here, I just had to cancel a subscription and avoid posting something furious to a pro-elmo wankfest where there should never have been one. SpaceX people - I feel your pain, but here’s the deal: No. Toss him overboard and let’s get serious. Until then, as with all his other poisoned ventures - NO.

We have liberals who watch Fox so they can know what others are hearing. As long as the left keeps giving the right eyeballs and attention, we're moving right.

At least 10 years too late. Only death stops him now.
