  • Brush: Semogue Owner's Club (cherry wood and boar) (38)
  • Razor: Zwilling J. A. Henckels Friodur 17 (NOS, 7/8", hollow ground, stainless steel)
  • Lather: Noble Otter – Firefighter
  • Post Shave: Barrister and Mann – Seville
  • Fragrance: Acqua di Parma – Blu Mediterraneo Arancia di Capri

Wonderful summer day, and like an idiot I got a sunburn on my face. I decided to end it with a very summery shave.

Firefighter++;

Love that soap!

[–] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Indeed! And it didn't get enough attention this summer

It didn't get much attention from me either. I have a number of warm weather soaps, like Firefighter, that I want to use. I think it is time to move away from Sample September for a while. :)

Yeah, I skipped the sample part of Sample Straightember this year. I missed to many of my soaps😊

May I recommend a SPF 50+ face fluid? Great for hot, sunny summer days. Or when you go skiing in the mountains on sunny days. I personally combine it with a mattifying moisturizer, as sunscreens tend to add quite a glow/shine to your skin.

I'm usually quite good about putting on sunscreen when I'm out playing with Djunior (trying to be a good example and all), but simply forgot that time. 🤷‍♂️

Happens to the best of us, DJ. As a bald dude I have to be rather meticulous about sun protection, I usually prefer sprays but these new face fluids in bottles with a pump mechanism (similar to artisan aftershave balms) are great for the scalp, face and neck. For sunburn recovery, Aloe Vera gel and cold packs work very well. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Thanks! Yeah, my trusty aloe vera après soleil soothed me 😊

  • Brush: Zenith B40 28mm Boar

  • Razor: Puma 89 #2 11/16 Full Hollow

  • Lather: House of Mammoth - Almond Leather - Soap

  • Toner: Thayers - Rose - Toner

  • Aftershave: Unilever - Brut - Aftershave

2 passes. Bowl lather. Excellent shave.

After only 7 uses, this brush has started to handle lather pretty well I'm getting good flow-through of lather which, to me, marks the end of lather hogging. The tips have felt good since the beginning and have been getting more flexible and softer with each day. This will certainly be a boar brush to rival the Moar Boar.

This Puma razor has a edge on it that was pushed the farthest on my current coticule [I've had other cotis before this one]. By far, it's the best edge I've produced on this stone. I'm excited to do another.

  • Brush: Zenith 508A XL/Bristle (B35) (MOAR BOAR) 31mm
  • Razor: Wolfman Guerilla (Gen 1)
  • Blade: Personna Lab Blue (7)
  • Lather: House of Mammoth - Tobacconist - Soap
  • Post Shave: Razorock - Puros - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: House of Mammoth/Declaration Grooming - Cerberus - Liniment
  • Fragrance: Barrister & Mann - Lavender, Interrupted - EdP

This tub is over 3 years old, so it's sort of hard. It shrank a bit so I pushed it around in the tub to spread it out. This tub probably has fewer than 5 shaves left in it. We'll find out!

Anyway, I've had some sub-par lathers from old Tusk in the past so I made sure to load load load, and got a really great lather.

Tobacconist ++

One of the greatest tobacco scents ever.

Day 5 of my journey through barbershops.

The Barbershop.

This little Frameback belongs to u/souleater7173. He sent it to me for honing and this was one I didn't want to miss out on trying.

It's a cool little razor. A 1st Gen Frameback from Sweden. Framebacks were originally made in Sweden starting in the 1870s as a way to compete with Carl Friedrich Ern's Hexe machine, which allowed for the mass production of full hollow grinds.

A thin blank of high carbon steel was forged and given a small wedge taper so that the edge could have a thin, full hollow feel. An additional piece of steel was then added to the spine to increase its width in order to maintain geometry from spine to bevel for a shaving edge.

Eventually, a 2nd generation would be born from this original idea. Stay tuned tomorrow for the continuation of this saga.
