I have heard Newpipe is good.

I have heard about Grayjay. Hopefully they add more options since I am not a fan of Rumble or Odyssey due to the lack of moderation.

I have heard people suggest Jellyfin and plex a lot in the self hosting communities. Also I just realized it took me 4 days to reply the the comments after I posted. Well better late than never.

Yeah, I definitely recommend self hosting content if you really want to ensure it's available in the future. I've lost track of so many YouTube videos that I used to enjoy, now I grab them to have offline.

Desktop: Freetube. iDevices: Yattee. Android Devices: I'm not sure yet.

Why not Freetube on android?

[–] SweetCitrusBuzz@beehaw.org 2 points 2 months ago

Probably will at some point, yeah.

I have been unsuccessful trying to root my android device. The best I could do was disable some google services and use fossdroid. I may add freetube to the list as well.

I personally prefer pipepipe, but he specified Freetube on desktop, was wondering if there was a reason he didn't use it on android as well

Firefox with uBlock Origin, Sponsorblock, YouTube Playback-Speed Control, and a Nyancat Seekbar (I guess the last part is not that important to me)

[–] Gamers_mate@beehaw.org 1 points 2 months ago

Interesting I use Firefox with Ublock Origin though I also use Invidious a lot. I have to chance instances sometimes though due to google blocking the playback.

on apple devices: play.

Just an update since youtube blocked invidous it has been a lot harder to use, jing rocks is the only one working for me atm. Piped seems to also not not be working. Youtubes illegal monopoly needs to be broken up.
