Note that

Permission was attained from contributors, and
Forks prior to this change are still under GPL naturally.

So what's the controversy, really?

I don't really see why getting attribution for a free project is so important to some people but if that's what they want over people "stealing" their work (which will happen anyway) so be it.

Seems like this only applies from this month onward, I would think a fork will happen sooner or later using the current/two weeks ago source that was still GPL.
