I have it running on my server, and honestly... I almost love it more than kagi. Still evaluating both, to make a decision by the end of the year.
Whoogle is a good option for self hosting as well

No widget. You can make it into a web app though.
Kagi works great for me. 100% worth it, best engine I've tried.
