I've this image in my mind of Del boy flogging cheese from a giant wheel in the back of his van

Been wanting so much more out of this story!

  • Where was it delivered/received?
  • Was this guy working all by himself?
  • What was the plan, surely he had to move it somewhere other than the drop off?
  • How was he going to sell 24 tons of cheese?! In small bits, here and there? To who? Would he have had to rebrand it?
  • Even selling in small lots, surely the unique nature of the product would have been picked up by somebody?
  • I read that trust is high in this small market, but 24 tons moved on a handshake?! Details please!

And given all that, it's no surprise he was quickly caught.

I wouldn't even want Cheddar if I were paid to take it

24T of Roquefort, now let's talk

Have you never even tried artisanal cheddars?

That stuff is up there with DOP Parmesan in terms of complexity and price.

I have never. Perhaps I talked too soon...

There is this Irish cheddar that has guinness veins in it. If that's your kind of thing it is absolutely delicious. Artisanal cheddar is not on the same level as the blocks or shredded stuff you buy in store.
