I buy a few kilos of dog biscuits at a time and at the moment we keep them in the bag in the garage, and decant enough for a week into a plastic kitchen tub. I’m worried about rats attacking what’s in the garage, so I suspect I want some kind of hard plastic tub, but I’m concerned about it being too big and awkward to easily get out the week’s food. Has anyone else got this solved?

Large plastic container for longer storage with rubber seals to be airtight, and a smaller container for daily use.

Food safe 5 gallon bucket and a Gamma Lid seal

We store ours in the closet pantry and we have a working glass cookie jar that we use for the daily meals. Works good, keeps the critters out and the seal keeps our dog’s food fresh. We refill the glass jar weekly.

I have a 30lb capacity Vittles Vault, basically an airtight plastic container. Keeps a bag of food at a time. We go through about a bag every three weeks, just recently started using an auto delivery subscription with Petco. I only got started on it because they stopped having the food Ove been using in the store itself, causing me to have to order online. So far it's pretty nice. The bag arrives within a day for two of schedeled date. I'm not sure how staleness affects the dog food, so I've not yet attempted to stockpile any sort of long term quantity. I would feel more comfortable if I could keep a few months supply on hand just in case supply issues eventually delay shipments.

Vittles Vault 30 lb Dog edition.

This is what I have, but I have the 40lb version. It has an angled next for easier access I guess. There's a 60lb version too. I also do the same as you but with Amazon Subscribe and Save. I get a back every month and I usually have about a 3 day supply left when a new bag shows up.

I have an incredibly over-engineered 3D printed solution that dispenses from a huge container into individual automatic feeders for each of my dogs so I only have to keep the big container topped off. This is the container, though.

I suggest a metal trash can with a good metal lid. Lower likelihood of being chewed through.

22 litre IKEA hallbar bin: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/hallbar-bin-with-lid-light-grey-20420203/

Fits roughly 10kg bag of dry food. Super convenient lid from which to dispense via measured scoop.

It's not airtight like some of the suggestions here but that has never been a concern for me.

Got the big rolling container from Yamazaki Home specifically for pet food and it is working a treat! It even holds the larger pet food bags so I don’t even need to transfer the contents.
