Not sure who this Pavlov guy is, but the name rings a bell.

Pavlov was sitting in a bar, enjoying a beer. When someone else came in, the door caused a bell to ring.

Pavlov jumped up: "Oh no, I forgot to feed the dog!"

Kudos for the BNL reference.

Barenaked ladies .. great Canadian band. Song the title is referencing is called Brian Wilson.

Oh ok, they're "BNL" now? We need a shorthand for the Barenaked Ladies?

[–] p1mrx@sh.itjust.works 7 points 11 months ago

They have used "BNL" officially. I recall they had an Enhanced CD (maybe Rock Spectacle) with a video that began "This is BNL TV", but I can't find a copy on the internet.

The barenaked ladies are TRIPLE PLATINUM, are YOU?

[–] GrammatonCleric@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Ah yes, the "One Week" and BBT theme song guys.

I used to run a wonderful BNL Geocities page back in the 90s. I was interviewed by Entertainment Weekly about it, which is the most random moment of my life.

Yeah it was so random. I remember the journalist leaving me a message on my parents' answering machine and was so shocked. It amounted to just a sentence or two but it was still wild.

How does Pavlov greet his friends? 'Sup dog

[–] BrownianMotion@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yet, the fact is that he never ever rang a bell for stimulus of the dogs!

Oh, thanks for linking!

This is a nice fact to show everyone how much more knowledgeable I am, when compared to them. Some nice dinner conversation show off.

lol! I just find it interesting how stuff is misconstrued even before the time of the internet (this particular myth has been around for many decades).

However it reminds me of this advert, which implies that internet would make things better! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yckqyg75oE
