Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.
Rules:
-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --
-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --
-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --
-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --
-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--
-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--
-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --
-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

yeah we'll see if this is actually a negotiated settlement or if it's typical US style request for capitulation followed by obstinance.
in any case, the US's strategic objectives in eastern europe have largely been accomplished anyway - nordstream 2 is dead, russian-euro relations are shattered, ukraine is a sucking wound as a backstop to shattered russian-european relations, europe's industry is destroyed, and europe needs to buy a new military from the US. the only thing the US didn't get out of the deal is a breakup of russia and a second chance to vulture over moscow, but that was always an outside chance.
I am starting to understand why the French government got so angry over the US-Australia nuclear deal. It was a sign that France was no longer an imperial power, but truly just another minor fiefdom under the American lords. The next few French governments, like other European governments, will be more and more unpopular, unable to offer the rich the spoils of empire or the poor the benefits of basic social democracy.
Wait until the republican's figure out how much money they can funnel to their friends through "aid" and do a U-turn on their current position.
Can’t wait for Slavic ISIS
I think it's already in Africa
lmao demoted from white status
Relatively not European, relatively not civilized anymore
As I said in the megathread, only way I think out of this is if the US military is stretched thin.
"We can only do one conflict/genocide pair at a time"
Is that Ukrainian hit-list website still up?
Because I think it's about to get a sizable update
Little bumblefuckweasel going to be tripping all over himself trying to rationalize the chaos.
Honestly, the potential for pumping the breaks on the war in Ukraine is the one silver lining of Trump being president. It's incredibly fucking close to full scale nuclear armageddon at this point and we know that the Democrats would just keep escalating.
But, who knows, Trump's opinion tends to be the same as the last person that he talked to.
