Critical reviews are divided with some panning and some praising the initial episodes. What are your thoughts after seeing the first two?

It’s missing a lot of the warmth and clever writing. It was somewhat better than the trailer made it look but it will really need to make some magic in the next couple of episodes to keep me interested.

This is how I felt about it, too. The Guardian's review of the first five episodes suggests things begin to work better after the first couple episodes, but I'll believe it when I see it.

to me it just doesn’t feel like the same character. I wanted to like it but I can’t.

Definitely feels like a different act of his life and hard to compare it to the 1993 run. Miss neurotic Niles, Martys spirit and even Bulldog. Feels like a slap in the face to do it without them but I love me some Kelsey Grammer.
