On Anime

While Anime is a beloved animation style with a rich history and extensive following, our focus here leans towards other forms of animation. This is due to the immense popularity of Anime in online spaces, which is amply covered by other dedicated communities.

This doesn't mean that Anime related conversation is not allowed here, only that it's not our focus. For a dedicated Anime instance, check out ani.social.

On Technical Discussion

While our primary goal is to discuss animated media, conversations about animation techniques and the process of creating animation are also welcome. I watched Fionna and cake on the plane the other day. Really liked it.

This week's episode of Bleach TYBW was a long time coming and I think it did a great job of it all. Fan expectations are impossible to meet 100% of the time but so far this series has been better than I expected while not completely abandoning the source material. Looking forward to more of it with almost a bitter sweet feeling. It's been a fitting sendoff so far.

Bleach is one of those series I missed growing up. I remember reading a little bit of the manga but that's it. Is TYBW something you can go into blind with minimal knowledge of the original series?

I think it's one of those things that's made to be entertaining enough to watch even if you don't get every single reference or immediately recognize a character. The whole thing is kind of the crescendo sendoff to the original series, but they're also trying to generate hype for the "Hell Arc" that's coming later. A general knowledge of Bleach characters is helpful but not required.

There are a lot of big names from throughout the entire world of Bleach and a lot of fan service is being crammed in. There's a lot going on in most episodes, but the overall plot is simple enough that you shouldn't ever feel lost just because you haven't watched or read everything (or anything for that matter) that preceded it.

My interest in Bleach has come and gone throughout the course of the series and I've been loving TYBW so far.
