fyi for anyone stuck at work like myself, you can use the steam app to remotely start the download so long as your computer is awake and connected to internet.

This is an amazing feature of Steam -- coupled with being able to activate game codes from the browser, it's so nice grabbing a game from the office on a break, registering it and installing it so it's ready when you get home.

Stuck at work and dentist later too. Phooey.

83% and about 45 minutes.
I am blessed with a fiber connection. (Blush)

[–] Rusty_Red@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Mad jealous of the fiber. Sitting at 40% after an hour and a half.

So this is why steam has been super slow

Steam downloads slowing down for anyone?

I would be happy if I had those download speeds, lol.

But I sadly cant access my computer for the next two weeks, so faster internet wouldnt help me I guess.

Not yet. It's at about 40Mbps for me, and has been around that since I started downloading

[–] LilDestructiveSheep@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Right now it seemed to have been slowed down. But might be wrong.

[–] Callendor@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Mines flitting between 120mb and 2mb. I think the servers are struggling !

[–] parmesancrabs@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Hitting 60mbps without any real fluctuations on two machines - seems like Steam have amole throughput.

Defenitly, have a 1G line and normal maxing at 940 now max was 700 went down to 400 which is still OK'ish

[–] forgotaboutlaye@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

I'm about half the speed I usually am (in Germany)

[–] espiritu_p@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

Done.
But have to wait until the kids are sleeping before I can start it.

[–] DharkStare@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I would love to but first I need to download a computer that can play it.

[–] Rusty_Red@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

Check out 'geforce now'. It's Nvidia's cloud gaming and I'm pretty sure Baldur's Gate 3 is available now. It's $20 a month but still cheaper than buying a whole new machine.

[–] cecirdr@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm at 14% downloaded. 8 more hours to go. Sigh...my internet sucks. Ah well, I'm at work anyway, so here's hoping that It completes without a hitch and I'll get to start playing tonight.

I pay for the most expensive inernet where i am and it still chugged along.

[–] Misconduct@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

It's so much fun I'm so happy it's finally here 😭😭😭😭😭

[–] Laffytaffer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Shout out to the other folks who couldn't remote install it and just started downloading after getting home from work. Hope your internet is fast enough to let you play tonight

[–] Underwaterbob@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Started mine this morning! I got about 15 gb in fifteen minutes before I left for work, so it's definitely done by now provided Windows didn't do anything shitty while I was away. Korean Internet FTW!

Is it available on any streaming services (or planned for)?

Pre-upd. Maybe reply instead of downvoting a qustion first?

Upd. Yes, for those interested, it's available on GeForce Now and Boosteroid.
